To: Friends and Investing Colleagues, 
 
We had a very successful year last year during which we held seven meetings
with a diversified group of speakers who were well received by the
attendees. As you know it was our first year of operation during which the
Board learned a great deal about the process. We will apply that knowledge
toward improving our meetings in the coming year. The new Board, elected in
May, has already held its first planning meeting for the new year. We will
again hold seven monthly meetings from October to May except for the month
of December.
 
At this point we are operating with a Board of six volunteers who are
covering a total of ten leadership positions as we did last year. Volunteers
who contribute to the planning and implementation of chapter activities are
the lifeblood of our chapter. Without their efforts there would be no
chapter or meetings. Therefore it is essential that members come forward to
volunteer some of their time, if they are able to, in order to ensure that
the work of the chapter continues. 
 
The Board recognizes that many members have expressed a desire to volunteer
but found it difficult to commit to taking on the primary responsibility for
a position or were unable to commit to attending planning meetings on a
regular basis. To address those issues we are asking members to consider
helping out on a limited time basis and/or contribute by doing some
volunteer planning work at home and communicating via email with the board
members. For example working on publicity, researching for potential
speakers, creating a data base of local members and analyzing member
feedback on meetings are the kinds of things that can be done at home. This
kind of help would be greatly appreciated and is essential for the success
of the Chapter.  The Board usually meets only once a month, but as noted,
many of these items can be handled by email. 
 
Needless to say we still need some volunteers to step forward in order to
provide continuity in chapter leadership should some current board members
find it necessary to leave the leadership for personal reasons at some point
in the future. We also need to have the input from new people to ensure that
we have a continuous flow of new ideas in our planning process.
