Thank you all for being so patient and responding to Action Alerts sent from
our state League. The legislative session ends May 4th and from now on
there should be plenty of action! If we all participate we CAN make a
difference. Thanks again, Joan Elsner

Subject: ACTION ALERT SB1920 SB736
ACTION ALERT! ACTION ALERT! ACTION ALERT!
The League of Women Voters of Florida supports the citizens' initiative
process (See Study and Action, pp. 8-9). The following bills, if passed,
will inhibit this process.
SB1920(Fasano)/HB559(Brown)
This bill will bar citizens from engaging in activities related to petition
initiatives outside of commercial property, strip malls, and shopping
centers.
SB736(Oelrich)/HB233(Brown)
This bill will allow employers, owners and their agents to discriminate
against persons or groups engaging in activity deemed detrimental to
business. If the bill passes, petition gatherers may be barred from
property unless the owner is in favor of the initiative; in the latter case,
one group may be allowed to gather petitions while another group may be
denied the same privilege.
Please contact the following member of the Senate Commerce Committee and ask
them to vote "NO" on these bills.
